Singer 4AB 1953

With only around 1’000 examples built, a Singer 4AB is as rare as hens' teeth. This pretty roadster was registered in the UK in 1953 and imported into Switzerland in 1973, followed by a first registration here in 1975. After a complete engine overhaul in 1980, the then owner decided to disassemble the car and restore it completely. This undertaking unfortunately stalled, not least because of health issues with the owner. Therefore, the singer, still in its completely dismantled stage, was taken over by the last owner in 1997 and rebuilt from scratch during the next 10 years. A photographic documentation of all the work is available. On renewing the registration in 2007 the 1.1 litre engine was erroneously entered in the car’s registration by the authorities as a 1.5 litre. A few years ago, the owner decided to store the car in his garage where it remained until 2021. Now carefully recommissioned and with the new Veteran MOT from May 2022 the car is ready to provide many years of blissful outings for a new owner.
